Another Thank You

Recently I got a gift in the mail via Dede from "Mystery" Carol. It was an amazing stamp set with a dragonfly. So as a thank you I wanted to make something with the entire stamp set as a thank you to send to Carol. Honestly I have no idea where the colors came from because they are not the "normal" colors that I use. But it was a lot of fun to make and I got to use a few different techniques all on the one large tag. First on the white chipboard I stamped the large dragonfly and embossed it with clear embossing powder. Then I stamped the same dragonfly but this time used perfect pearls to paint them. I then stamped it with the dream and hibiscus stamps all over using shimmer inks. The next thing I thought to do was something I hadn't seen before but it turned out really cool. I just sprinkled embossing powder around the tag and some in little piles and melted it as it was. It gave it a splattered look which was neat. I painted some dragonflies and used my glitter pen to accent those. I also did some watercoloring around the clear embossed dragonflies. Added a few accents, inked the edges, stamped and embossed the quote that was with the set, added some ribbon and viola. Carol blessed so many people with so many things and in this world right now there are so many people that are hurting in so many ways that I really cherish those that take the extra time to share with others. This stamp set would have been on my wish list for a long time and thanks to her and Dede I now own it. Thank you both for all you do to share with so many.

This is a photo of the splatters of embossing powders.

Thank you for looking.

Laurel's Thank You

My round one secret sister, Jaen and I decided we wanted to do something special for Laurel as a thank you for hosting the swap and for helping us meet each other in this big place we call Earth. She made Laurel some amazing ATC's and post cards which I will post a link to as soon as she blogs them. Here is what I made for her. I have to admit that the ATC was the most fun for me. I was determined to make it look 3D, stacked unevenly AND keep it at 2.5x 3.5 at its longest points. I succeeded!

Thank you for looking.

Pet ATC Swap

So sorry I just dropped away for such a bit but have not been really making a lot lately. However I was in a recent swap where we swapped ATC's about pets. So naturally I found some of my favorite pics of my pets. The black cat is Cinderella AKA Cindy, the dark cat is our Smokey who we had to put down last year :( , the cat with brown and white is Dusty, Smokey's sister. Then that leaves the pup, whose name is Burt. :) My swap partner this time was Moonlitrose AKA Joyce. The first 2 are the ones I sent to Joyce. I really struggled making these cards so I made them all and then chose my two favorite to send to her. However they are the two that really made me laugh so I made copies of them for myself. Thank you Joyce for taking the pics for me since I completely forgot to do it before I sent them off.

Thank you so much for looking.
God bless!

Happy Mothers Day!

Happy Mothers Day!

This year there were two special things I wanted for my Mothers and thanks to shopping early I was able to get them both what I wanted. Here is the card I made for each of them. I have to admit I am not a big "fungus" person but I really love this paper.

And here are their gifts. The one for my mother is the one holding the flowers. Its called surrounded by love. I felt like it would be a good reminder for her to know that she is surrounded by love despite who may or may not be with her in person. The other one is for my mother-in-law and hers I wanted for her because she had a special thing happen to her recently and this willow tree is called angel of friendship. Not only have Mom (MIL) and I been able to have a beautiful friendship but she now has little Amber Hope who she adopted that will be bringing her so much devotion and friendship.

Thank you so much for looking. I hope all the mothers out there and the mother figures have a fabulous Mothers Day.

God bless!

Crepe Paper Flowers :)

I saw the coolest thing on a blog and I wanted to try it. Karla at Karla's Cottage dyed an entire roll of crepe paper and it was beautiful! So I had a roll that I bought for another project that I didn't get to do and thought yay! a purpose for it. To start with my favorite rose is the fire rose. So I thought hmmmm yellow crepe paper topped with reds...this should be perfect :)

Now let me start by saying I saw the photo of her dabbing the ink pad on top and skipped reading her other steps. Big no no LOL It took me forever to dye only to discover that if I had been a good girl and read her steps I would have discovered the part about wetting the paper about 1/4 inch down before adding the color. So my way took A LOT longer. But I started by dabbing on some rust color ink and then some reds then thought hmmm I wonder if sprays would work better. So I got out some of my homemade sprays in reds and rust colors and soaked it. Then I added more ink directly from the pad and it began to really pull the color in. I am in Florida and with our humidity it took forever for it to dry all the way. I would say a good week. But its so beautiful! So worth it! She used white with burgundy colors which was beautiful too but I just used what I had. Here is a close up of one of the flowers that I just twirled together to see the color effect I would get.

I just love this look and the colors are beautiful too.

Thanks for looking.

Random ATCs

I had a few special people to make ATCs for recently so I am going to include them all in one post.

First I was in a swap that some of my art community has put on and my swap partner was Sandra. This is her first ATC swap so I was so honored to be her "first" :) This started out as a piece of handmade paper that Dede sent me. Then I added some ink, some paint, the heart tree, some coffee filter butterflies and lots of tiny pearls. :) Topped that off with a word that I thought was fitting and framed it out. Viola! Now if only it will find its way to Sandra across the big blue ocean along with some countries in between.

The next was an ATC made for my Joyce for a late birthday gift. It was made with a baby wipe just like she makes.

Next up is an ATC that I made for Jaen...um just because lol Since I made acrylic ATC's with Felicia I have always loved how they looked so I wanted to share one with her. Also on this ATC is a handmade flower that Joyce made for me as a birthday gift so Jaen ended up with a gift from two of us actually.

The last ATC was a thank you to Fran for all the patience that she had with me while trying to teach me to crochet little flowers. The flower on this ATC was the first flower I had ever crocheted and the same flower I made with Frans help. The little blue dot that's at the top was a temporary add on. My youngest daughter came over as I was photographing the card and said Mom that needs one more thing. So supposedly it wasn't perfect until I got a blue dot at the top. So there is her dot which I explained to Fran she could take off once she got it.

All of these cards went to such special people and I hope they all enjoyed them.

Thanks for looking.

Secret Sister Swap Round 2 Box to Tracy

Most of you have already seen Tracy open her box here. However just in case here are some pics that I took of the box art and goodies in the making. I won't be saying a lot so this will just be a quick scroll through some pics.

Tim versus Tim (her bf vs the holtzer)
The flowers on the cover are handmade.

This was big for me I have a hard time mixing flowers. lol
These were the first lollipop flowers I have ever made.

The next few pics are the goodies I had in her box.

On this pic it shows the magnetic bookmark I made for her with the extra strip of paper from her art box. I had such a great time making this box for Tracy. I got to share handfuls of my handmade things with her and make her some special things also. I have to say even though I am steampunk challenged though my very favorite piece I made for her was the Tim vs. Tim tag. I just thought that was so much fun.

Thanks for looking everyone!
God bless!
